1. Yoga for health and healing activity :
Today Kaivalyadhama, Mumbai has become one of the leading centres of the world, working in this field. Every year around 4000 members attend this centre to learn Yogic practices either for the purpose of health or for getting specific assistance in the natural process of healing, when they suffer from some illness.

During the last 60 years, more than 1,50.000 persons have taken the benefit of the services offered by the Health Centre.

Following are the important features of this activity.

  1. Practical classes of Yoga are conducted every day of a week, except Sundays and Bank holiday, to impart training in Yoga. The timing of the practical class are : 6.30 to 10.00 a.m. and 4.30 to 8.00 p.m. for Male members. 7.00 to 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 to 7.00 P.M. for Female members.

  2. Yogic practices are taught for the purpose of maintenance of health as well as for the treatment of following disorders :

    1. Nervous Disorders – Anxiety Neurosis, Depression, Insomnia, Neurasthenia, Migraine, Tension Headache etc. as well as the addiction to alcohol, smoking etc.

    2. Digestive Disorders – Hyperacidity, Dyspepsia, Gas trouble, Constipation, Colitis, Piles etc.

    3. Respiratory Disorders – Chronic Cold, Sinusitis, Chronic Bronchitis, Bronchial Asthma, Tropical Eosinophilia etc.

    4. Cardio – Vascular Disorders – High Blood Pressure, Myocardial Ischaemia with angina pain etc.

    5. Musculo – Skeletal Disorders - Arthritis, Spondylites, Low Backpain Sciatica, Generalised Bodyache etc.

    6. Reproductive Disorder – Menstrual Disorders, Low Sperm count in male etc.

    7. Metabolic and Endocrine Disorders – Diabetes Mellitus, Obesity, Thyroid Dysfunction etc.

  3. Medical doctors trained in Yogic therapy, examine each person and prescribe appropriate programme which includes Kriyas, Asanas, Pranayama and Meditational practices.

  4. The trained Yoga teachers teach this Yoga programme to each member individually.

  5. During the training, repeated examination by the doctor and the assessment by the Yoga teacher is carried out and appropriate changes are introduced to make the Yoga programme more effective.

  6. For the female members, there is a separate section and they are taught by the female teachers.

  7. In case the member is unable to join the Health Centre, arrangement is made for the Home-tuition.

  8. There is Provision for a Life membership, so that the member can avail the facility of attending the Health Centre for a life-long period.
