Students in Yoga Session
Introduction
Yoga is the very foundation not only of the Indian culture but also of the different cultures of the world. The economic, political and communal conflicts that are today tearing the world to pieces are mainly due to the fact that the unessential parts of cultures are being stressed more, while the essential parts are frequently overlooked. The object of the College is to train young, intelligent and educated men and women in arts and science of Yoga for self-control and unfoldment of higher potentialities and to get them well grounded in a cultural synthesis, so that they may strive not only to lead a richer and well integrated life themselves but also to teach others to attain the same through physical and mental poise.
Kaivalyadhama Shreeman Madhava Yoga Mandira (K.S.M.Y.M.) Samiti, which is responsible for the foundation and conduct of the Gordhandas Seksaria (G.S.) College of Yoga, is recognised by the Central and Maharashtra Governments as a Research Institute and has been getting Grants from these Governments for its Scientific and Philosophico-Literary Research in Yoga. The Samiti's research has been greatly appreciated by scientists and scholars, both Indian and foreign.
